The full breakdown

Pick 1 · Best Overall

Fellow Atmos Vacuum Canister

4.7/5£45

Integrated vacuum pump removes oxygen — extends bean freshness by 1-2 weeks vs regular jars. The Fellow Atmos is the gold standard for home bean storage — a vacuum canister that actively removes oxygen to extend peak flavour by 1-2 weeks. Beautiful design, genuinely effective.

Why it's great

  • · Integrated vacuum pump — no external pump needed
  • · Extends peak flavour by 1-2 weeks
  • · Beautiful matte finish design

Flaws, but not dealbreakers

  • · Takes a minute per dose

How to choose

Why does storage matter?

Coffee loses its aromatic compounds rapidly when exposed to oxygen, light, heat and moisture. A proper storage solution can extend peak flavour from 1 week to 3+ weeks — that's the difference between flat, cardboard coffee and a vibrant, aromatic cup.

Vacuum canisters vs sealed jars

Vacuum canisters (like Fellow Atmos) actively remove oxygen using a pump or valve — far more effective than a simple sealed jar. If you care about freshness, a vacuum system is the only real option.

Freezing coffee

If you buy in bulk, vacuum-seal individual portions and freeze them. Never freeze an open bag — condensation will ruin the beans. Let thawed beans come to room temperature before grinding to avoid condensation.

Frequently asked questions

Whole beans: 2–4 weeks post-roast in a sealed container. Vacuum canisters extend this to 3–5 weeks. Ground coffee loses most of its aroma within 30 minutes — always grind just before brewing.
